Hanging: 2-Point Versus 4-PointUpdated 2 months ago

The difference between these two hanging styles mainly comes down to personal preference and how much movement you want from your swing or swing bed. Both options are stable and safe when properly installed.

A 2-point hanging style provides a more traditional porch swing feel with a freer, wider range of motion. In this setup, the ropes or chains form an inverted “V,” connecting to two ceiling points (one on each side).

A 4-point hanging style offers more control and a gentler, more contained motion. In this configuration, all ropes or chains hang vertically and connect to four ceiling points (two on each side). This setup helps reduce side-to-side movement, which some customers prefer for added stability.

If you’re concerned about children, pets, or a space where the swing may experience more active or uneven movement, a 4-point hanging style is often the better choice for added control.

To help visualize the difference, you can view examples below of swing beds installed using both 2-point and 4-point hanging styles.
