Shipping Methods and Delivery Expectations

At The Porch Swing Company, we work with craftsmen and manufacturers across the country to ship our products directly to our customers. While we generally utilize FedEx whenever possible, the carrier used for an order will vary depending on the product, manufacturer, size, and delivery requirements.

Ground Shipping (FedEx, UPS, or USPS)

Smaller items are typically shipped via standard ground services such as FedEx, UPS, or USPS.

What You Can Expect

  • A signature is generally not required for delivery.
  • Tracking information will be emailed to the customer once the order ships.
  • Packages are typically left at the customer's front door, porch, or normal package delivery location.
  • Transit times generally range from 1–5 business days after shipment, depending on the distance from the manufacturer to the delivery address.

Freight Shipping (Large and Oversized Items)

Large or oversized products are shipped via freight carrier and include curbside delivery service.

What Curbside Delivery Means

  • The freight carrier will deliver the item to the curb at the end of the driveway or another accessible location.
  • Customers are responsible for moving the product from the delivery location to its final destination.
  • Delivery does not include:
    • Inside delivery
    • Assembly or installation
    • Packaging removal
    • Liftgate service (unless specifically purchased)

Delivery Requirements

  • An adult age 18 or older must be present to receive and sign for the shipment.
  • Freight deliveries are typically made using a full-size tractor trailer.
  • These vehicles may not be able to access:
    • Gated communities
    • Narrow roads
    • Dead-end streets
    • Steep driveways
    • Locations without adequate turnaround space

As the customer and final recipient, you are responsible for informing us of any potential access restrictions before the order ships. If the carrier is unable to access the delivery location and a re-delivery is required, any additional charges will be the customer's responsibility.

Freight Delivery Scheduling

Unlike ground shipments, freight deliveries require an appointment.

Scheduling Process

  1. The shipment arrives at the local freight terminal.
  2. The carrier contacts the customer to schedule a delivery appointment.
  3. Delivery is typically scheduled within a standard business-hour window, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Customers should respond promptly to the carrier's scheduling request.

Important

  • Delivery should generally be scheduled within 48 hours of the carrier's initial contact.
  • Storage fees may be assessed if delivery is delayed beyond the carrier's allowable holding period (Generally 3 days).
  • If the carrier cannot reach the customer to schedule delivery, the shipment may also be returned to the manufacturer.
  • Any resulting storage, return, or re-delivery charges are the customer's responsibility.

Tracking FedEx Freight Shipments

Freight shipments are tracked differently than standard FedEx ground shipments.

Customers can track freight shipments through the FedEx Freight tracking portal when applicable:

https://www.fedexfreight.com/en-us

Please note that freight shipments may be handled by various national or regional freight carriers, and tracking information will be provided based on the carrier assigned to the shipment.
